The mighty speed gods were tingling with positive excitement this evening as we embarked on the latest interval session that our guru Neil had set for us.
All out speed was the name of the game as we gathered at the humid Herringthorpe Track aiming for 20, yes 20 sprints of 200m with only a short 100m walking recovery in between.
After dodging the downpour we cruised through the warmup then into Neil’s drills so we were nice and warm ready for the session.
Off we went, the first five were lovely, we were all looking good and feeling relaxed. The rest of them, well, the walking recovery’s felt like mere seconds and the 200’s felt like a mile!!! But finish was the aim and finish we did.
ABSOLUTE KUDOS this week must go to the amazingly courageous Andy Pidcock, just 4 weeks after heart surgery and Andy is flying round the track like there’s no tomorrow. His surgeon must’ve seen what we saw tonight, the heart of a lion !!
We also saw some spectacular runs from first timers tonight, Kim Rosie and Connor who took the plunge, came down to track and gave their all, superb running.
And lastly a special mention for tonight’s photographer Emma, suffering a long term injury she frequently visits us at the track to offer her encouragement, lovely commitment thank you Emma.
We’ll see you all next week
