About Rotherham Running Club
Rotherham Running Club started with like-minded runners and friends coming together to do what they love. United, we have grown into the thriving running club we are today.

Our team mates enjoy meeting often for different events and activities. Passion and enthusiasm go hand-in-hand with everything we do. We are supportive and sociable.

Our door is always open to new members, no matter their experience level. We are proud to bring together people from all over Rotherham, and beyond! Come join us at our next event - we'd love to share all that Rotherham Running Club has to offer!
More about us...
As well as our weekly social club run nights, we continue to grow and expand what we offer so look our for new sessions including strength, and competitive training.

We take part in local, regional and national races including road racing leagues and cross country. We also love a team event or relay such as the Round Rotherham, Barnsley Boundary or Sheffield Way - the more the merrier!

As well as our official club runs, many of our members meet regularly at Park Runs and arrange other weekend runs together. We are also partial to more social based meets such as our fancy dress pub runs, day trips to away races, race nights and more recently bottomless brunches.
You need to celebrate all your hard work after all!

FYI Section...
A Quick Track Etiquette Refresher-

-
We do not have exclusive use of the track, please be aware of other users - everyone has the same right to be there - play nice!
-
Please be especially careful during the warm up as we might be running in a different direction to other users.
-
When you're running your intervals, try and use the inside lanes (1 to 3).
-
When you're in recovery, please try and use the central lanes (4 and 5) to stay out of the way of runners on the inside.
-
Especially over the next few months, please be aware of freezing temperatures making the track slippery. If you need to go a bit easier it's okay, it's better than getting injured!
-
You attend and undertake the sessions at your own risk, the posted session is merely a guide and we will never be offended if you decide to do your own thing.
At the end of the day, you get out what you put in.
Be careful, but enjoy it!
And try not to get run over!

Where do i run socially to suit my ability??
Often we get asked
"What will be suitable for me when attending a club run?"
"I’ve been running a while on and off"
"I’ve done a park run a few times around 35 minutes"
"I'm returning to running after a few years off"
"I’ve never ran and want to be able to run 5k or just use it for general fitness"
"I often run around 6 miles in the hour alone just want to run with others socially"
"I can run about 4 miles in the hour with a little rest here and there"
"I go to the gym and run/walk on the treadmill but I don’t think I can manage 30 minutes to 60 minutes run/ walk"

As a general rule for safety, the following guidelines would apply for current running or non-running ability;

Club run on a Tuesday and a Thursday -
5-6-7 miles around 60 - 70 mins - group 1
4 - 5 miles steady pace with rest periods around 60 minutes - group 2

Runspiration on a Thursday (Herringthorpe Track) -
Short and long term goals to run 5k to 10k for new or returning runners unable to yet run the above distances

We try to accommodate runners abilities by supporting our running community and relying on our fabulous volunteers to lead you safely so you can enjoy your run and meet other runners.
