In what was a busy race week, 9 of our athletes converged on Rother Valley Country Park on Saturday to race the 3 Lakes Classic, 14 mile of off road running starting at Rother Valley and taking in Treeton Dyke and Waverley Lake before returning to Rother Valley via the hill of all hills. On the start line the sun was hot but our runners had a sneaky park of the cakes waiting for them at the finish, motivations itself !
Showing everyone a clean pair of heels again, Graham Dodd easily won his V60 category in 1hr49 with in-form Laura Mann our first lady home not far behind in 1:52.
Aaron Greenwood, having a brilliant year to date came home in 1:56 just pipping marathon specialist Matt Hamer(1:58). Paul Greenwood was next home, despite running two legs at Damflask relays in the week finished in a great time of 2 hours with Sandra Ford making her debut at this distance crossing in 2:19. Joanne Rayner-Johnson and Louise Siddall both timed 2:37 with Stuart Frith finishing in 2:44.
Speaking afterwards Louise said
“Hey it was a good atmosphere despite the heat and he didn’t sugar coat the new route at the start calling it a massive hill finish which was a challenge but we rose up to it like we do I only do it for the cake a nice hot cup of tea in my mug after ”
Another great showing from our club at a great local race organised by Killamarsh Kestrels Running Club.
A lovely medal, mug and cake for all finishers and most probably some well earned beers.
See you next time
