The Ørsted Great Grimsby 10k RRC Race Report

Summer finally arrived in the fishing port of Grimsby as Rotherham's finest athletes made the early morning journey over to Humberside for the 8th edition of the Grimsby 10k, a lovely flat course with plenty of local support and live bands en-route, superbly organised by Tape2Tape.

Running out of words for this guy, Harry McGregor, with another PB was first home for the club in 36:49, coming 45th overall out of a field of over 2000, amazing running.

Not to be overshadowed, Graham Dodd showed he’s still got it on race day by running an astonishing 39:40, gaining 3rd place in his V60 age category.

Another one flying at the moment, Laura Mann continued her excellent form by claiming yet another PB and finishing 14th lady overall out of nearly a thousand runners coming home in 42:25.

Club captain Adelle Marsden showed a return to fitness by finishing 4th in her age category in 43:06 with John Fellows also claing a PB with a time of 43:15.

Andy Pidcock was next home in 56:01 with Stuart Frith finishing 20th in his age category with 57:44.

Struggling in the heat, next up the finishing straight was Robin Williamson in 59:16 closely followed by Lauren Beasley in 1:00:42.

A brilliant determined run by Angela Wright saw her cross in 1:04:33 with Sarah Meyers not far behind in 1:06:13.

The finish in ‘People’s Park’ saw runners presented with a medal, t-shirt and a sticky doughnut before our athletes moved onto Lauren’s selection of well deserved chilled beverages.

Another fantastic club outing to a superbly organised event with an amazing group of running buddies.
